North Carolina CEU’s Required for Professional Educator’s License Renewal:Grades K-5

• 3 (CEU’s) Subject Area
• 3 (CEU’s) Literacy
• 2 (CEU’s) Digital Learning Competencies

Grades 6-12

• 3 (CEU’s) Subject Area
• 2 (CEU’s) Digital Learning Competencies
• 3 (CEU’s) General

[1 semester graduate credit = 1.5 North Carolina CEU’s or 15 clock hours / A 3 credit course = 4.5 North Carolina CEU’s or 45 clock hours.]

Activities Accepted for Renewal Credit:

1-College or university courses Official transcripts are required as documentation; grade reports are not accepted.

2- Local in-service courses or workshops The administrative unit certifies credits.

3- Classes and workshops approved by an LEA Documentation of completion is provided by the agency sponsoring the activity.
